I mainly translate from English to Swedish, but also edit and proofread texts. I also write in Swedish and English. After completing my studies at Stockholm University (cultural studies, including history), I have worked as a journalist since 1984, mainly for various Swedish and international news agencies. Foreign affairs, politics, economics, culture and sports have been pat of my beat. As a correspondent for the German news agency dpa, I covered the Nordic region for over 15 years, which also benefited my comprehension of Danish and Norwegian. I contribute to the online Swedish language National Encyclopedia (Ne.se), providing annual overviews of 21 countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe . My work has included translating articles for various magazines, e.g. The Economist's special Swedish language edition The World In ..(Världen...), which financial daily Dagens Industri distributes its subscribers. Have translated several books and anthologies, e.g. about the Ottoman Empire and its policies towards various minorities as well as sports and history. Am interested in aid and development issues due to the fact that I grew up in southern Africa (Zambia and Tanzania). I am based in both Sweden and the Finnish city of Lahti where my Finnish-American spouse lives.
